Creedence Clearwater Revival's entire Woodstock set is finally being released, just shy of 50 years after the band performed at the legendary outdoor music festival.
CCR's Live at Woodstock is due out August 2, two weeks before the golden anniversary of the August 16, 1969, performance.
Creedence was fresh off the heels of the release of its third studio album, Green River, the band's second full-length of the year and its first-ever No. 1 album. The 11-song Woodstock set included classic songs like "Green River," "Proud Mary" and "Bad Moon Rising."
The hour-long set will be available in vinyl, CD and digital formats. You can hear the band's Woodstock rendition of "Born on the Bayou" in the player below.
Like many Woodstock acts, CCR's set was pushed back to late in the evening because the Grateful Dead's set went far longer than expected.
In 1970, Creedence refused to allow their set to appear in the Woodstock film or on the film's soundtrack No. 1-selling soundtrack.
Three songs from the set eventually were included on the Woodstock 40 Years On: Back to Yasgur's Farm box set in 2009, but the coming album marks the first time the historic recordings will be released in full to the public.
Fogerty and his former bandmates/longtime nemeses ex-CCR bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford touted the coming album this spring when they announced that they had reconciled some of their issues — at least enough to partner in the release of the Woodstock recording.
Cook and Clifford are embarking on their final tour with their band Creedence Clearwater Revisited. Fogerty spoke earlier this year about his hope to recreate the band's Woodstock set this summer at Woodstock 50. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
