A Florida high school student went viral after he crashed into a classmate while backflipping on stage during his graduation ceremony.

Gavin Robinson, 17, stopped in the middle of the stage during South Plantation High School's commencement at the Rick Case Arena at Nova Southeastern University on Sunday (June 1) and performed his stunt, but landed on a fellow graduate, who identified herself publicly as Amelia in a TikTok post showing the accident, which had more than 3.7 million views in just three days.

“When I took off into the air and felt myself hit my classmate, I thought, ‘Oh this can’t be happening,'” Robinson told PEOPLE.

The accident played out seconds after Amelia's name was called and she walked across the stage, adjusting her cap as Robinson crashed into her.

The two students had only met two days prior during rehearsal, at which point Robinson said he told Amelia about his plan to backflip on stage. Amelia didn't sustain any serious injuries and accepted blame for the viral accident, claiming she was distracted from remembering Robinson's warning.

“Hi guys! Im all good and not hurt, he did tell me beforehand I just got distracted,” she wrote in the comment section of her post. “Please don't send him any hate!!”

The two students laughed off the accident after returning to their seats on stage.

“After, when we went to go sit down, we were laughing about it together. Immediately after, one of my friends was laughing about it in a group chat, and he was the first to post it,” Robinson told PEOPLE.
