Columbia City Council Issues Shelter In Place Order

Columbia City Council has approved a shelter in place ordinance similar to the one approved earlier this week in Charleston.

The ordinance which hopes to help stem the spread of Coronavirus goes into effect at 12:01AM Sunday and remains in effect for two weeks. Residents will be required to remain in doors unless absolutely necessary.

There are exceptions.Individual outdoor activities will be allowed as will travelling to businesses deemed essential.

Some of those essential services include restaurants and grocery stores, manufacturing operations and financial institutions and certain businesses that provide services to homeowners.
